So i did all 4 rotors and pads the other day. All went well. Go for a test drive, and the wheel shakes violently and the brake pedal moves back and forth a ton! Turns out one of my front rotors is totally way out of spec. Measure it with a micrometer and everything. Has anyone had to do claims through rock auto? Not sure how this will play out.

Never had to, but I can't recall ever hearing anything bad about RockAuto. That's gotta mean something.

I've done claims with Rock Auto before. They sent me replacements and told me to keep the bad part.

Do your rotors slide on the drive studs, or do they incorporate the wheel bearings? If they have the wheel bearings in them, I imagine you didn't seat the bearings properly, which would also explain why the wheel shakes pretty bad.

I have. It's one of the main reasons I continue to buy from them. Sooooo easy and helpful.

Sounds to me like the problem lies in the caliper mounting hardware. New rotors and pads should work well. Bad/dirty/worn caliper mounting hardware will bind everything and cause a lot of related problems.

I know it was the rotor because i put the old rotor back on (which is still usable, and i didnt really need to replace it, but i did anyways) and all the problems went away. 1 variable was changed, and that variable was the rotor. I have all new mounting hardware, but i didnt want to install all of it and find i still had the problem.

Like i told desert dog. I put back on my old rotor to change the one variable (left the other new rotor on the other side) and it brakes super smooth now.
The rotors just slide over the studs and hub.

Where did you get that new rotor?

I bought all 4 new rotors and pad all around. Carefully removed the old rotors, because they were still very usable, and i could give them to someone who needs them. Found the problem with new rotor, put on the old one (with the new pads) and the problem no longer exists.
New rotors were purchased from rockauto if that was the other possible question you meant.

Yeah, that is what I was asking. Never dealt with RockAuto. I suppose bad parts get through sometimes no matter who is selling them.
